Ankle boots have gone from short-term fad to must-have in any girl's closet. Although their construction and height may seem curious at first, you'll notice that they are versatile and go with many of the pieces that you already have to make them look updated and fresh. Skirts and Dresses
Ankle boots look great when paired with leg-baring styles that enhance the entire length of the leg to give you model-like height and stature. You'll need to be careful when pairing ankle boots with skirts and dresses, however, as the wrong length can make your legs look shorter instead. Since ankle boots cover the entire foot up to the ankle, you'll want to show as much of your leg as humanly possible when wearing them with a skirt or a dress. That means if you don't like mini-skirts or mini-dresses, then this look might not be for you. To decide whether a skirt or dress is too long, hang your arms straight down at your sides. To wear ankle boots, your skirt should not go past your fingertips. For girls on the shorter side, pairing your ankle boots with tights in a matching color will make your legs look long and lean. Tall girls can go bare and show off their legs. Ankle boots are not for the fashion-safe.
Jeans and Slacks
For an easier and more accessible way to wear ankle boots, pair them with jeans or slacks. Of course, ankle boots don't go with just any pants; you'll need to choose pants that are skinny or have a slight boot cut to them. You want to balance the sleekness of the boot with an equally sleek pant, not overwhelm them with a baggy or bulky silhouette. Try pairing your ankle boots with a skinny jean and a rocker leather jacket for a hard edge that just about anyone can pull off.
Leggings
Ankle boots pair beautifully with leggings, which have made a comeback after their '80s fashion heyday. Try wearing your ankle boots with leggings that extend down past the boot top. An easy, everyday way to wear this type of outfit is with a loose tunic on top---a fashion-forward way to hide figure flaws and yet look balanced. Beware of wearing ankle boots with short leggings that end above the boot; skin peeking out will make you look short and dated, when you want to look tall and trendy.
