How to Wear Slouch Boots

Slouch boots are meant to be comfortable, yet chic. The are forgiving with regard to calf size, which is an important feature for the full-figured woman. These types of boots range above the calf to just above the ankle and can be worn in many different ways. That gives the wearer some latitude in creating her own style.

Instructions

Choose the type of slouch boot you want. They come in different fabrics, styles, heel and leg heights, and feature little, medium or maximum draping (slouch).

Decide if you will wear the boots barefoot, with stockings or with socks. This decision may have an impact on Step 3.

Pull slouch boots on with their built-in tab or by grasping each side and pushing the foot into the boot. If they are too tight anywhere in the calf or foot, remove them. Exchange them for a larger size or width if necessary. If the sizing is only slightly off, use boot stretchers to customize them to fit your foot or calf.

Add arch supports to the boot if needed. This may be necessary for either medical or personal reasons.

Adjust the draping (slouch) of the boot up or down the leg or ankle as desired. Depending upon the amount of draping available, it may be possible to push the boot all the way down to the ankle or pull it up to the top of the calf.

Fold over the top of the boot, if the style you chose allows. This can help to tighten the boot closer to the leg and keep it from sliding down throughout the day. It also serves as another way to control the leg height of the boot.

Add boot accessories such as a chain, a harness, a belt or clip. Be careful that the decorative accessory will not stain, mar or scratch the boot's fabric.

Pair slouch boots with jeans or pants. Tuck them inside of a wide or boot cut leg or stuff skinny jeans inside pf the boot for an up-to-date, stylish equestrian look.

Wear slouch boots with different types of skirts. Pair shorter boots with a long broomstick skirt for a bohemian look. Put longer boots together with a pencil skirt for sophisticated styling. Choose mid-calf boots for skirts that just skim the top of the boot for a more casual look.

Put slouch boots on with a dress for a fun, hippie look. Add a big hat to polish off the overall effect.
