Fur boots are a warm and stylish trend in footwear. While these boots are typically worn in winter months, celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Beyonce and Rihanna can be seen sporting the trend throughout the year. Starting around $150 a pair, fur boots are an expensive investment for the average shopper and must be cared for properly to ensure longer wear for your money. Pony fur, like other furs, must be cared for and protected from materials and elements that may harm it.

Store your boots in areas that are properly ventilated. Avoid plastic bags or boxes. If you must cover your boots to protect them from the elements, use a loosely woven cloth bag.
2Do not store items on top of or too close to your boots in your closet. These items can crush or flatten the fur, ruining the shape and style of the boots.
3Use your hand to smooth furs that are sticking up or out of place. Using a comb or brush could pull the fur out of the boot and cause shedding.
4Tuck dark denim jeans inside your boots or wear tapered jeans. Dark denim dyes can bleed on your boots and can be difficult to remove.
5Do not wear your boots when you are spraying hairsprays or perfumes. These products contain alcohol that can dry out the leather in your boots if they make contact.
6Allow your boots to air dry if you get caught in rain or snow. Avoid using blow dryers or heaters to dry your boots because it can parch the leather.
7Cover your car seats before placing the boots on them. Cloth upholstery can pull the hairs out of your boots.
