How to Measure for Ariat Field Boots

Ariat International, the global boot manufacturer, specializes in footwear for horse-riding, motorcycle riding and casual wear. Their field boots, which can be purchased either online or through local retailers, require different measurements than a pair of sneakers. Although doing body measurements can seem too complicated for purchasing a new pair of boots, the process is rather simple, and will help you get the most comfortable fit.

Instructions

Determine your normal shoe size in U.S., U.K. or European sizes, depending on your preference.

Remove your shoes and socks.

Sit down in a chair and rest your feet flat on the ground.

Measure the length, in inches, from the floor to under the back of your knee with the tape measure running up the back of your leg. Add 3/4" to 1" to determine your leg measurement. For example, if the measurement was 16", your leg measurement would be 16 3/4" to 17".

Measure your calf, in inches, by wrapping the tape measure around the the largest part of your calf. This measurement should be taken over your pants. This is your width measurement.

Compare your shoe size height measurement and width measurement to the Ariat sizing chart, a link to which can be found in the Resources section. This will help you find the right size field boot for you. For example, if you are a woman who wears an American size 6 shoe, and you have a length measurement of 17" and a width measurement of 13", your best fit would probably be the "med/reg," or medium regular sized boot.
