How to Make a Pair of Ladies Boots Smaller

How to Make a Pair of Ladies Boots Smaller

It's a great disappointment to get or try on a pair of leather boots that complement your style perfectly only to find that they're slightly too loose. Boots that are too loose are more than just uncomfortable; they can cause a host of problems from blisters to corns. While you can always just layer on pairs of thick socks to make the boots feel tighter, there is a more efficient way to shrink boots to create a more snug fit.

Instructions

    1

Fill a basin with hot water. Submerge the boots in the basin. Soak the boots in the hot water for about 10 minutes.

    2

Shake out the water from the boots and let it drip out. Pat out the excess water from the boots by stuffing the inside with old towels.

    3

Put on a pair of socks and stick your feet in the boots. Wear them outside in direct sunlight until they're dry. While this might be uncomfortable, wearing them will help them mold more directly to your feet and the direct sunlight will help them shrink even more.

    4

Add a quarter-sized amount of leather conditioner to each boot once they have dried properly. Rub it in evenly around the surface area of each boot, distributing it well. Hot water takes a lot of the natural emollients out of the leather, making it a little brittle once it's dry.
