How to Embellish Plain Ballerina Flats ~ Women Shoes Advisory

The ballerina flat continues to be popular among young and old alike. Women are embracing healthy feet that are not precariously balanced on 3-inch spikes. While some ballerina flats come in plaids, stripes, or prints, many others are plain in color, making them a bit dull and boring for those women with a more outgoing personality. The good news is that it is possible to embellish plain ballerina flats in a number of different ways. All it takes is a bit of imagination and the right tools.

Instructions

Decide what type of embellishment will be used. This might include floral and/or jewel embellishment or even hand painting.

Decide the type of ballerina flats desired. The shoes come in a variety of fabrics and materials. While not all decorative techniques will work on all of them, each type of ballerina flat is receptive to several types of embellishment. This decision will have some impact on the remaining steps below.

Sketch out the design to be used. The shoes can be embellished at the toe, heel or around part or all of the side.

Purchase the supplies needed to complete the project.

Embroider or cross-stitch a design onto a pair of fabric ballerina flats that can be easily punctured.

Glue or sew ribbon or silk flowers and leaves onto each shoe. Cluster the embellishment around the top or back of the shoe or down the side, following the drafted sketch.

Glue or sew charms onto each shoe as planned in the draft sketch.

Set faux jewels onto the shoe. This can be done a couple of different ways. They can be glued on with permanent glue that is appropriate to the shoe material or jewels can be set into the shoe with the help of a device that sets metal-based jewels.

Hand paint a design onto each shoe using paints that are appropriate to its material or simply use specialized paints such as glitter, pearlized, or puff style to "squiggle" designs onto the shoe.

Add pre-made embellishments such as ribbon, braid, a string of sequins or pearls to the shoe by using a needle and thread or permanent glue appropriate to the shoe material.
