What Is the Meaning of Galoshes?

The history of the standard pair of galoshes is one that traces its roots from natives hidden deep within the jungles, to businessmen on their way to work in New York City. It is a story that continues in modern times as new children are told to "put on your galoshes" before heading outside in the rain.

By definition from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the galosh is a heavy boot or a special shoe worn in the snow.

B.F. Goodrich the tire manufacturer decided to market a pair of rubber boots he called "galoshes" in the early 1900's according to Idea Finder.
