During the 1970s and 1980s, the Swedish-style clog became a fashion statement for both men and women. They were worn without socks and usually chosen by people in "alternative" lifestyles.

During the 1990s, elevated clogs became all of the range. They were worn by women as an alternative to the typical flat sandal or flip-flop.
