How to Clean Suede Boots at Home

How to Clean Suede Boots at Home

Suede boots, while fashionable, require special care. In the course of regular wear, staining and soiling will occur. When suede gets wet, water stains or spots will form. In addition, suede has a nap that attracts dirt and debris. Fortunately, with the right tools, you can clean your suede boots at home without having to resort to a professional cleaning service.

Instructions

Removing Dirt

    1

Brush the affected area with a suede brush to remove the dirt from the nap. Brush in one direction only to avoid roughening the nap.

    2

Rub a suede eraser over the soiled area to remove any remaining dirt. Rub in one direction only.

    3

Brush the area lightly in one direction with a suede brush to restore the appearance of the nap.

Water Stains

    4

Press a dry, soft cloth against the wet areas of your suede boots to soak up the water.

    5

Place your boots in a well-ventilated area until they are dry to the touch. The time that this will take will vary. Don't put them directly in front of any type of heat source such as an electric heater or fireplace.

    6

Brush the water-stained areas with a suede brush in one direction only to restore the appearance of the nap.
