How to Clean Scuff Marks Off Black Patent Leather

How to Clean Scuff Marks Off Black Patent Leather

Scuff marks get in the way of the shine of black patent leather. Luckily, black patent leather is easy to clean. Dont bother with commercial cleaners. Theres a good chance you have what you need to remove those scuff marks in your home already.

Try rubbing the scuff marks with a smooth, soft cloth. Sometimes that will do the trick.

Wet a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and dab more resistant scuff marks with the wet swab. Then wipe with a dry cloth.

Rub a small amount of mineral oil onto the scuff mark with a dry cloth using light pressure if the scuff mark is stubborn. If that doesnt work, consider using petroleum jelly, toothpaste or shaving cream. Patent leather is made a variety of ways, and what works for one type may not work for another.

Use a clean cloth to buff your now-scuff-free black patent leather.
